By Caroline Bartholomew

The #13 ranked Syracuse Men’s soccer team is 7-2-1 overall, with 2-0 and 3-1 wins over Colgate and Duke this past week. Although both games were away, it didn’t stop the Orange from playing hard and adding another ACC win to their record. For the win against Colgate, junior forwards Chris Nanco and Ben Polk scored. On Friday, two goals from sophomore midfielder Julian Buescher and a self-goal allowed Syracuse to beat Duke in a shutout. Syracuse’s record in the ACC is now 2-1-1. On Tuesday October 6th, the Orange will host Albany and hope to continue their four game winning streak.

This past week, the Orange beat Boston University, Monmouth and Cornell, adding more wins to their undefeated record. The team won 5-1 against Boston, 9-1 against Cornell and shut out Monmouth 5-0. Syracuse’s nine goals against Cornell is the most they’ve scored since October of 2011, with six of the nine scored by junior forwards Serra Degnan and Emma Lamison, and sophomore back/midfielder Roos Weers. Goalkeepers Jess Jecko (senior) and Regan Spencer (junior) each made a save against the Bears. Next Friday, the team will travel to fellow ACC school Louisville to hopefully remain undefeated.
